Do use a Realtor®. The home buying
process isn't nearly as complicated as it seems when you use a professional
Realtor®.
Do get pre-approved. When you are
pre-approved, you are essentially a cash buyer. The seller knows he
won't lose valuable time, taking his home off the market only to have the
buyer be turned down.
Don't let your first impression affect your
decision too much. Not all home sellers are interior decorators!
Don't let poor decorating turn you away from a solidly built home.
Remember you are buying the home, not the furnishings.
Do your homework. Check out the
neighborhood carefully. Think about resale... the average first time
home buyer only stays in a home four years. What have similar homes
sold for in this area? I can get you an up-to-date cost analysis.
When you've found your dream home, don't
make verbal agreements. Put everything in writing.
Do get a home inspection.
